Nail Adventures: Kisses All Over

I feel like it’s been FOREVER since I did a Nail Adventure post! Woo!

\o/

By the time y’all get a look at this, I will be at work. And of course, for Valentine’s Day, I have to do something cute for the day (since I actually have the official day off!)

I need simple for this, because my schedule is on a level of ridiculously hectic. And there are some new Sally Hansen nail polish strips I needed to get.

Ok, I didn’tΒ needΒ them. But do you know how long it’s been since I’ve bought nail polish? A month, at least!

Withdrawal is real, y’all.

So, I found the absolute perfect set of polish strips, and got to it. Here’s the results:

wpid-20150212_153106.jpg

See what I mean? I HAD to have these! So, these polish strips are called Giving Lip, and my accent nail is OPI’s Big Apple Red. You could use just about any color as the accent nail, since the lipstick kisses are in pink, purple, and red. I found a purple and red glitter polish that would have gone perfectly, had I come across it first.

Did I mention this took me about 10 minutes to do? Cause it did. This is perfect for that last minute date/plans for drinks…

Gotta love quick beauty!

Glossybox Review: Yuletide Cheer

So I got my December Glossybox, all wrapped up like a precious gift:

Fancy!

πŸ™‚

And of course, so are the contents:

wpid-wp-1418953277806.jpg

I was so excited I didn’t even want to move my laptop out of the way!

Do you see the wealth of goodies here? I keep telling y’all, go get yourselves a Glossybox, you won’t be disappointed! Here’s the lineup of products:

Nuxe Masque Creme Fraiche De Beaute: I actually have heard of this before, and it’s lovely. It’s a moisturizing mask, and it leaves your skin very velvety. I have super oily skin until the dead of winter, so this helps to give my skin a drink of water.

Rituals Cosmetics Miracle Scrub: So, I actually hoped this was for my face (I LOVE a good face scrub), but this is for the hands. No worries, I like a good hand scrub too, especially before doing the weekly manicure. It’s a nice scrub, not too heavily scented. And it left my hands like butter.

Ciate Mini Paint Pot in Yule Rules: OMG BLUE SPARKLY POLISH. Which, ok, I need more nail polish like I need a hole in my head, but it’s so pretty!

Toni & Guy Leave In Conditioner: naturally I get this right after I’ve washed and conditioned my hair for the week. But a heads (heh) up: you can always use leave in conditioner as a styling aid (detangler) in between washings. So I’ll be using this before I twist my hair up this week. It smells really clean, which is nice.

And finally: BellaPierre Cosmetics Mineral Lipstick in Burlesque: This. Lippy. Y’all. Listen. A few Glossyboxes ago, I had a chance to try out their lip gloss, and I loved it. And I can tell you this lipstick is everything. Look:

wpid-wp-1418953365286.jpg

It’s still on my hand at the time of this writing, and I did the dishes before I started writing. Serious staying power. Can’t wait to wear this out! It’s a semi-matte finish, very moisturizing.

And that’s the roundup for this month! I’m loving everything here, and I’m gonna have to track down the rest of BellaPierre’s products. I think I’m in love!

Getting Crafty: The Christmas Edition–Quick Hit

Alright, I’m likely going to postpone the dramatic conclusion of this series next week, when I get the rest of my supplies.

But I’ve still got a little something to tide you over until then.

So, we decided to Secret Santa at work, and we had a limit of $20 to spend.

I didn’t even have to spend that much. I had all the supplies I needed. I took this:

Don’t mind the Theraflu. I’m fighting another cold.

And I made it into this:

Pretty cool, huh? I hope my recipient likes it!

See you next week!

October Glossybox Review

You know, I almost didn’t sign up for Glossybox because I thought it was too much money for not enough goodies.

As time has gone on, and boxes have come, I am loving Glossybox more and more. This month is another winner!

Let’s get to the good stuff!

wpid-20141022_203309.jpg

Chock-full of goodness!

Matte Top Coat from Nails Inc.: I have heard such good things about this company, so I’m looking forward to trying this out. What I have found with matte topcoats so far is that they shorten the wear of your nail polish like crazy. Now, I prefer the glossy look, but on nights where matte nails work better, I put in all this work for it to be ruined by the time I get home. I hope this top coat will be different.

Tarte Cosmetics Power Pigment in Flush: Oh, y’all. This is a creamy, bold, beautiful color. I love the texture and I love the fact I don’t have to sharpen it (just twist up at the bottom.) It’s minty, and matte, but not drying. Love!

Vince Camuto Amore Eau de Parfum: When it comes to scents, I am picky. I am very picky. I have a sensitivity to smell like you wouldn’t believe: anything too strong and I have an instant migraine that will. not. go. away! This scent is beautiful, like soft flowers and fresh, light fruits without being too sweet. A little bit of sandalwood deepens it, but without it being too rich or heavy. I’m surprised I like it so much, but I really do.

Sesha Botanical Hydro Mask: I’ve never tried a mask from this brand before and I’m looking forward to trying it out. Masks are my favorite thing in the world to give my skin a quick pick me up. This mask has cucumber, green team and marigold, according to the insert, so I know it will give a soothing effect as well as improved hydration.

Proganix Volume Root Boost Finish: So, this product is supposed to give hair body and volume with soy protein and caffeine. While the idea of this intrigues me, I know I won’t be using this product on my hair. I probably could have used this on my relaxed hair, though. It does smell nice, though, so I will probably take this to one of the girls at work and see if she can make use of it. Pay the good stuff forward!

Bonus goody: A card worth $40 off of HelloFresh.com. I’ve been considering doing something like this. Essentially, you pick the recipes you want to create, and they pack all of the ingredients and deliver them to your front door with a handy info card. I’d love to do this if I wasn’t in an apartment. I may pass this on to the girls at work too, if I don’t try it out myself!

Another awesome box this month! Watch my Instagram for a look featuring Tarte going up today!

Nerdy Girl Adventures: Makeup Of New York Comic Con

Usually, I can’t be bothered with putting a lot of makeup on. Even though I do makeup and sell skincare for a living, most of the time you’ll see me in tinted moisturizer, eyebrows, eyeliner, and mascara if I’m feeling fancy. That’s it.

But not for NYCC. No, no, I have to show off for that!

Each day saw a new look (of course!) Let’s get to it!

Day One: Meow!

wpid-img_20141009_144608.jpg

All eye shadows are Urban Decay (combination of the Electric and Rollergirl palettes), and lipstick is MAC’s Girl About Town. I was so happy to get there after a particularly rough morning. But once I was there? Happy place unlocked!

Day Two: Green Lantern Realness

IMG_20141010_112328

I definitely got in late and didn’t get much sleep the night before. πŸ˜€ NYCC will do that to you. Again, all shadows are Urban Decay (Electric and a older palette I don’t remember the name to…it’s discontinued. 😦 ), and lippy is MAC’s Heroine. I was on my way to Artist’s Alley in this shot. There, you can get custom art and prints from all of these different talented artists. Don’t worry, there will be a swag round-up post. πŸ™‚

Day 3: Riddle Me That

wpid-20141011_094633.jpg

Definitely the most makeup heavy day, but was well worth it. I have on all Urban decay again (combo of Electric and Vice 2), and L’Oreal lippy in Orange Tempo. It comes out that glossy, by the way. It’s the Colour Riche Extraordinaire. Bonus shot of me and my friend C:

wpid-20141011_153827.jpg

I’m pretty sad none of the pics I took that day show I had on orange, green, and purple eye shadows. But that’s ok. The lippy more than makes up for it!

Day Four: Sweet And Simple

wpid-img_20141012_093131.jpg

For the final day, I threw on a Wonder Woman tee and my Clark Kents (glasses, lol!). I was there to take pics and enjoy the day with my nephew, so there was no need to get super dressy. Shadows (all neutral) are Stila, lippy is from Malin+Goetz that I got in my Glossybox a month or so ago. It tastes all minty and yummy. Also: uber glossy, and glossy things make me happy.

Tomorrow’s post is all about some of the awesome costumes I saw. You’ll get my costume Friday, and a bonus Saturday post will cover all of the swag!

See you then!

Nail Adventures: Nails of New York Comic Con

Hey folks!

So, I needed some time to recover from NYCC. I had SO much fun! There are like, a million pics I’m gonna share with y’all this week, but the organizer in me says I have to make it make some sense. So, since I normally do nail posts on Tuesdays, here’s a round up of all three looks I did.

Let’s get started!

Days One and Two: Gilded Fishnet

wpid-img_20141009_090628.jpg

Thursday I did a Catwoman themed outfit (tee, cat ears, leather skirt, leggings, and boots.) Friday it was Green Lantern (tee, leggings, denim shorts, sneakers). I thought the gold and black would be perfect to compliment those two themes. Random aside: if you have a good dollar store by you (Jack’s is the best here in NYC), you can find some good stuff. Those nail decals above? Sally Hansen, and I paid $1.99 instead of $11.99. Winning!

Day Three: Riddle Me This

wpid-20141010_225234.jpg

So, my showpiece costume on Saturday was the Riddler, and I thought it would be fun to play with texture. These nail stickers are from L’Oreal and they…were not the best. 😦 By the end of the day I was picking them off of my nails. But they looked great for a couple of hours. You’ll get shots of the costume later this week. Considering how close to the wire I cut it, it turned out pretty good!

Day Four: A Little Captain In Me

wpid-20141011_232758.jpg

The name to this manicure comes from my friend C, who asked that when she saw my fingers Sunday morning. πŸ˜€ Now, of course this is my favorite because blue, but it turned out better than I thought. The blue is Revlon’s Wild Card. After a day of work, I’ve knocked half of the rhinestones off. It was fabulous while it lasted!

Now, I’m off to edit some pics. Tomorrow’s post will be all about the makeup I sported. See you then!

So, normally this is when you see my weekly manicure.

Well, I went back to yoga yesterday, and let me just say that my ass is sufficiently kicked.

I’ll finish up the post tonight so you’ll have it tomorrow. In the meantime, have a pic of what I used for my newest look:

Yep, the rings are important too. πŸ™‚

See you tomorrow!
