Makeup Friday!

Hi loves!

I know I promised y’all a makeup look today, but my pictures did not come out the way I’d planned.

😦

I’m such a perfectionist when it comes to my makeup that I just can’t show y’all subpar work.

So, I’m going to give y’all a bonus Sunday makeup post (Scout’s honor!) with the same look I couldn’t seem to get right today.

As an apology, I’m sharing this video. This is what inspired the look I’m showing y’all Sunday. Hopefully I can get better pictures taken.

Enjoy, and happy weekend! (See y’all Sunday!)

Updates!

I live! I know, I kinda fell off the face of the internet there for a bit. I had a million things going on offline (not bad, just unexpected), and now I have the time to catch up on things.

Vacation is awesome like that. Even better because I am not in my apartment.

So I have time to rest and breathe, and catch up on things.

My video: so, I filmed this pretty simple tutorial three times and realized you could see up my nose on the third and best take. I opted to walk away from that for a bit till I can get a better and larger tripod (later this week.) Don’t worry, the YouTube is not abandoned! Just getting more equipment to make it even better. πŸ™‚

Later this week, you will notice the site design will change, so as to include the YouTube link and the new Facebook fan page (coming Friday!)Β

And finally, you will get some fresh content this week, including a new Nail Adventure as well as a piece on shopping someone else’s closet. Next week, you’ll get footage of some fashion events I will be attending for Fashion Week.

I think that’s all of the new stuff headed y’all’s way. πŸ™‚ My current situation is my legs propped up on the sofa watching Pioneer Woman on Food Network. About to do my nails, of course. Β See you tomorrow!

Announcement!

So! If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don’t, feel free!) then you know I recently acquired a new camera.

I can’t even explain how excited I am! πŸ˜€

I’m gonna get to the announcement shortly, but first: story time!

I have been wanting to upgrade to a nice digital camera for a while now. There’s nothing wrong with camera and iPad pics by any means (it’s what I’ve been using so far), but I want to be able to make it look more professional and play around with photography more.

So I asked around for some suggestions. One of my coworkers, an excellent photographer, suggested a Nikon camera. My cousin seconded Nikon and added Canon to the mix.

I don’t know very much about cameras, but I had two requirements: it needed to be portable (I carry my life in my bag and I don’t need my camera to add extra weight), and that it had to take high definition video.

Once I took a tour of the Best Buy and handled a couple of good looking cameras, I decided upon a Nikon D3200.

My wallet wasn’t in tune with my desires, at least not for now. This is normal. Hold out two things for me to choose from and I can guarantee that I am going to pick the most expensive of the two. My mama says I got that from my grandmother.

But, at least it was all decided, half of the battle won!. When I spoke with my cousin about picking a model, he told me to let me know which I wanted.

And then…he bought it for me:

I am super excited and super grateful for this blessing, because now I can…

GET ON YOUTUBE!!!

I have a webcam on my computer, but it..well, kinda sucks. All of the video looks really grainy on it. Rather disappointing. I’ve been holding off doing tutorials for just this reason. I could do it in picture form, but sometimes there’s just no substitute for motion.

And so, next month, I will be premiering my YouTube channel! I am so excited (and scared! but it’s a good thing!) to start this endeavor. Now, I know you’re wondering why not do it now? Simple: I have to learn to work my camera properly first. πŸ˜€ I ought to have it down by the time July rolls in. It will be coming to Full Figured Fashion week as well, so I’ll get to find my bearings more.

I’ll be doing nail and makeup tutorials, of course. But question to you, my lovely readers: what would YOU like to see? I love to give my opinion, so I can do that too, if y’all might be interested. Leave me some ideas below!

For fun: some more shots of the new equipment!

I have a feeling I will be using that guide mode quite a bit. πŸ™‚

Can’t wait to get started on this new journey, and I hope y’all will come along for the ride! I am aiming for a video a week to start off, and maybe more as time allows.

Have an awesome weekend!

Nail Adventures: Gamer Style

I can never call myself a gamer. I enjoy watching others play, and I do enjoy my Mario Kart and Just Dance.

But gamer? Nah. I’m nowhere near good enough.

I can, however, make a game come to life on my nails! Β One of my favorite games to play when I was a peanut was PacMan. So I thought: why not put PacMan on my nails? The inspiration for this look came from two different videos I found on YouTube:

This one is from HannahRoxNails.

And this one is from PolishPedia.

I loved elements from both of these videos, and combined them to create this look:

Right Hand

Left Hand

I was able to freehand PacMan there. Practice does make perfect! Despite my ambidexterity, circles elude me when I have to make them with my left hand, so right hand only got the maze and dots. The side eye from the ghosts make me giggle every time I look down at my hands. So cute!

And now, off to fall back down the YouTube hole and find some other looks!
